I was in Crete in February and it was perfect. It was so easy to get around. The beaches were empty and the breeze was lovely. I hiked to hidden beaches only the locals know about, and spent time at the farmer’s markets where they go to buy everything they need . I was, also, able to get a glimpse of the children dressed up for their Carneval. It was all amazing and experiences I will never forget.

The beaches are quiet, you can easily sit on a blanket and watch the small waves come in and out or read a book and just enjoy the peace.

I was able to visit a German Christmas Market last year. It was very entertaining. It was cold but there were plenty of warm drinks. The square could be full of people but the rest of the city was not. I would go to the Christmas Market earlier in the day when there were small numbers of locals who came out for the warm nuts or the hot sandwiches. It was colorful and full of culture and history. Once the crowds started arriving there was plenty to do in other parts of the city.
